Jeff Rouse
Deacon
Jeff and Charity moved to the Des Moines area three years ago for his job and soon began searching for a new church home. Though leaving their previous church, where they both served as worship leaders and Jeff as an elder, was difficult, a series of meaningful events led them to Saylorville. One of those was an unexpected call from a friend who had been praying for them and encouraged them to visit Saylorville which felt like a clear nudge from the Lord.
Jeff chose to follow Jesus in high school after many conversations about faith with his girlfriend, now wife, Charity. Though he wasn’t raised in the church, his walk with Christ began to align with his profession of faith when he moved to Massachusetts for college and became involved in a local church. Through community, discipleship and the encouragement of other believers, Jeff learned what it truly meant for Jesus to be not only his Savior but also his Lord, and his spiritual walk grew from a crawl to a steady walk.
Jeff has had the privilege of serving with Vacation Bible School and on the parking, shuttle and worship teams. Charity serves on the worship team. They serve together as Community Group leaders.
Jeff sees serving in the church like being in a rock tumbler. His rough edges have been smoothed by serving alongside other faithful believers. Charity and Jeff have always loved serving the church. It’s no coincidence that his spiritual growth took off when he got involved in ministry back in 2005. He’s excited to continue growing and serving in this new role, if it’s the Lord’s will.
